Enter Ana Belen Montes, an intelligence analyst at the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). Montes was highly respected, known as the “Queen of Cuba” for her expertise. But what no one suspected at the time was that she had been a Cuban spy since the very beginning of her career.
It was Montes who had arranged the meeting where Carroll gave his warning about the impending Cuban attack. This wasn’t just a coincidence—it was an orchestrated move to control the narrative. By warning the U.S. a day before the attack, Cuba could later argue that America had been negligent.

But the real question isn’t just about Sandusky’s crimes—it’s about why it took so long for people to believe them.

Chapter 7 – A (Short) Explanation of the Amanda Knox Case
On November 1, 2007, Meredith Kercher was murdered in Perugia, Italy. The man responsible—Rudy Guede—left behind a mountain of evidence, including DNA at the crime scene. He fled to Germany shortly after the murder and was eventually convicted.
But strangely, Guede wasn’t the primary focus of the investigation. Instead, suspicion fell on Kercher’s roommate, Amanda Knox, and Knox’s boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito. Within hours of discovering Kercher’s body, Italian police became convinced that the crime was part of a bizarre sex game involving Knox, Sollecito, and Guede. The media frenzy that followed turned the case into an international spectacle.
Despite the lack of any physical evidence linking Knox or Sollecito to the crime, they were both convicted. It took eight years for the Italian Supreme Court to finally clear their names. Even then, many people still believed Knox was guilty.
Why Was Amanda Knox Accused?
The Amanda Knox case is a textbook example of what the book calls the transparency problem. If you believe that people’s emotions and thoughts can be accurately judged by their facial expressions and behavior, you will make serious mistakes. And Amanda Knox was one of those mistakes.
