Perplexity, an A.I.-powered search engine, has gained popularity among tech insiders and investors, raising $74 million in funding and boasting 10 million monthly active users. The search engine uses A.I. to write summaries of search results, annotated with links to the sources used. Perplexity’s Copilot feature helps users narrow down queries by asking clarifying questions.

While Perplexity is seen as a strong challenger to Google, it lacks the latter’s size and lucrative business model. Some fear the impact of A.I.-powered search engines on digital media and publishers, as they may replace traditional website browsing.

Why Build a Life of Focus?

Building a life of focus is about reclaiming our attention and directing it towards the things we choose, rather than what is chosen for us. Attention determines the quality of our work, mood, relationships, and overall experience. Unfortunately, attention is often driven by automatic instincts that may not align with our modern lives.

To build a life of focus, we need to deliberately decide what matters in our work and at home, cultivate attention for what enriches our lives, and actively learn and build rather than passively consume. The Life of Focus course, offered by Cal Newport and the author, provides structured exercises to help individuals reclaim their attention and engage deeply in what matters most to them.
